New Video: E.R. – “My City”

After the successful release of the Vagabonds “#FML” EP, Baysiqly and E.R. have been performing around South Florida extensively due to the buzz generated by the project. In between shows, they’ve been recording freestyles, guest features, and several music videos. “My City” is one of those freestyles, which was recorded on a Friday night at 3 AM and had a video shot at 5 PM the very next day. “My City” is an ode to the city where E.R. is from, and more specifically to his stomping grounds, the Eastside of Little Havana, in which the majority of the video takes place.

The cover for “My City”, which was also designed by E.R., also has a funny story behind it. Originally sporting a glitzy, Miami Vice inspired theme, E.R. was given a picture of one of Little Havana’s busiest intersections, NW 17th avenue, which now sports a juxtaposition similar to those in other parts of town. In the background you see the Miami Marlins new two billion dollar stadium positioned in the middle of one of Miami’s most impoverished communities, which is a detail cleverly left out when speaking of the stadium.

As a proud born, raised, and current resident of Little Havana, E.R. decides to show you his favorite section of his favorite city: “the tre-oh-five.”

E.R. performing live at Churchill’s for Beastie Boys member MCA tribute

As we’re sure you’ve all heard by now, the hip-hop community suffered the devastating loss of hip-hop legend and pioneer, Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys after a three year bout with cancer of the salivary gland.

In memory of MCA (August 5, 1964 – May 4, 2012), Churchill’s Pub is hosting a tribute night to the legendary Beastie Boy on Tuesday, May 15th. This night of celebration will include performances from plenty of Miami favorites, such as Ketchy Shuby, Space Between Words, Llamabeats, Hot Pocket, Ghetto Gestapo, and our very own E.R.. The show kicks off at 8pm, and this will be an 18 and over event.

$5 donations (or more, if you’d like!), will be taken at the door, and all proceeds will be donated to StudentsForAFreeTibet.org, which MCA was famous for backing and supporting. Peep the flyer below!

After releasing the popular underground smash “Best of Both Worlds” with E.R. (of the Vagabonds), as well as “Estilo Libre” over Public Enemy‘s “Harder than You Think” instrumental, Mago is back with his debut mixtape “No Me Diga”. Featuring a 14 track mix of original songs and freestyle verses, “No Me Diga“ shows off Mago‘s versatility as an artist, covering all sorts of topics in his music. From songs directed to his ex-girlfriend such as “Grace”, to party joints such as “Tirate Pa’ Aca” and “Tu Ta Como Eh” to songs that show off his double-time flow abilities such as “Warning”. On the freestyle side of things, he covers classic beats such as “Shook Ones Pt 2″, “Niggas In Paris”, and “What’s The Difference”, among others.

In addition to the songwriting, all original production heard on “No Me Diga” is the work of Mago himself, who’s production versatility is the perfect compliment to how versatile song topics and flows. As usual, all videos related to this project are also captured by Mago himself, working behind the camera lens as part of the Mr. Visual media company, along with videographer/photographer Rafael Morales.

As a close homie of the VMG camp, you should already know we’re working on a release party for “No Me Diga”, so stay tuned for the details on that!

Although Miami is famed for it’s distribution and use of a powdery white substance, Miami’s also one of the United States’ main hubs for marijuana use, so it’s only normal for one to expect all kinds of festivals celebrating it’s use and history on 4/20 weekend! Our very own Vagabonds were asked to help partake in the celebration, and they will definitely be holding it down at Downtown Miami’s premiere concert venue, EVE, for a special event called “Weekend at BURN-ies”. In addition to celebrating 4/20, we’ll also be helping celebrate the birthday of fellow Miami MC, Saheed. Coming fresh from behind the camera lens shooting music videos for Miami hip-hop outfit, the Vagabonds, as well as party footage of some of South Beach’s wildest and raunchiest clubs and party buses, MAGO steps in front of the camera and shows the world what he does better than most: RAP.

“Estilo Libre”, the first video off his upcoming mixtape, “NO ME DIGA”, is a 4 minute and 30 second lyrical onslaught against everyone who has doubted his dreams and aspirations. From friends who claim to support his movement, but have no actions to show it, and record label A&R’s who brush him off as one of Miami’s dime-a-dozen rappers, nobody is sparred from his attack. Going in over Public Enemy’s “Harder Than You Think” instrumental, the multi-faceted MC shows he can go in lyrically with the best of them, while still being able to pump out the party hits like his last video, “Alcoholico”.

New Music: Chevy Ced – “Bout That Time” (featuring E.R. of the Vagabonds)

When it comes to hip-hop music, there has always been a big connection between Georgia and Florida. From early bass music crossing county lines from down in Miami, up to Orlando, and finding it’s way to Atlanta and the rest of Georgia, to legends such as J.T. Money calling both the 305 and the 404 home, the GA-FLA connection has been a big reason why both states produce so much talent.

“Bout That Time” continues that tradition, with Vagabonds member E.R. linking up with Chevy Ced of Hevy Traffick Music, based out of Savannah, GA (hometown of Big Boi of OutKast, and late rapper Camoflauge [RIP]). Already having a tight grip on the local scene in Savannah, the Hevy Traffick boys traveled down south to Miami to experience the night life that we’re famous for having down here. Already being leaked through local Savannah radio, this track featuring board work from K-OTIC of I Am A Brand Media Group, is sure to catch on at all clubs in between Miami and Savannah.
